Omaha, NE, January 23, 2021–(BUSINESS WIRE) BioSafe Distributors, LLC announced today that it is an integral provider of BioSafe Distributors Biological Fogging Solution and Aqueous Ozone technology for Food Distribution Programs on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) in the U.S.

Tribes provide USDA Foods to income-eligible households living on Indian reservations and to American Indian households in approved areas near reservations. The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), administers FDPIR at the Federal level. The program is administered locally by Indian Tribal Organizations and as of FY 2020, approximately 276 tribes are receiving benefits under FDPIR. Tribes that have adopted BioSafe Distributors solutions include The Winnebago and Santee Sioux Tribes of Nebraska and The Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota amongst others.

BioSafe Distributors safer, more effective approach to decontamination, sanitation, and general cleaning are being utilized by these locally administered FDPIR programs in their distribution facilities. Tribal Directors of FDPIR are biologically fogging the BioSafe Distributors solution to eliminate viruses, bacteria, and other potentially harmful microorganisms in buildings and vehicles associated with their programs. BioSafe Distributors AO Water technology is being applied as a non-chemical alternative to disinfect and sanitize all surfaces.  As an added benefit, Tribal food distribution programs are capitalizing on the AO Water to spray-down fresh USDA produce in an effort to remove bacteria, pesticides, and herbicides from all fresh fruits and vegetables.

About FDPIR:

The Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) provides USDA Foods to income-eligible households living on Indian reservations, and to American Indian households residing in approved areas near reservations and in Oklahoma. Many households participate in FDPIR as an alternative to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) because they do not have easy access to SNAP offices or authorized food stores. The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, administers FDPIR at the Federal level. The program is administered locally by either Indian Tribal Organizations (ITOs) or an agency of a State government. As of FY 2020, there are approximately 276 tribes receiving benefits under FDPIR through 102 ITOs and 3 State agencies. USDA purchases and ships USDA Foods, selected from a list of available foods, to the ITOs and State agencies. These administering agencies store and distribute the foods, determine applicant eligibility, and provide nutrition education to recipients. The USDA provides the administering agencies with funds for program administrative costs.
